About Us

Donald Barr started in business in 1951 as a coachtrimmer and upholsterer. His sons, Patrick and Andrew, joined him twenty years later and the business became a limited company in 2002. The term “coachtrimmer” dates from the days of horse-drawn coaches and carriages. Nowadays, work encompasses any specialist upholstery work in vehicles from motor cycles and cars to boats and aircraft. We have repaired the fire-proof trousers for a circus clown, upholstered a spinal injuries carriage for a Leeds hospital, provided an authentic leather hood for one of the carriages which takes tourists along the front at Bridlington, and made up coin bags for the toll booths on the Humber Bridge. You will usually find us repairing seats for the local councils, police, fire, and ambulance services, undertaking upholstery repair work on cars for insurance companies, or repairing or replacing seats, carpets, headliners, sunroofs, and hoods for local car dealers. |
